Dickfeldi's Slender Cichlid

Julidochromis Dickfeldi

These fish originate from Lake Tanganyika. They grow to be 6-8 cm. Dickfeldis require a water temperature from 23-28 degrees C. Their body is very elongated and slender, and contains two black horizontal stripes, one which is along the center of the body and the other which is below the dorsal fin. The color between these stripes is a pale yellow. There are numerous vertical stripes that are much more easily identified on the top half of the fish than on the bottom half. There is a pale blue color on the caudal fin, which is rounded, and on the other firs. These fish require many hiding places, but a pair will thrive in a tank as small as fifteen gallons. They will eat live food, vegetables, and alagae.
