Candy celebrates it's fourth birthday with everyone's favorite sweetheart, Heart Evangelista! With TV
shows, movies, endorsements for Vaseline, Vitasoft, and Lyca bags, and a cool, cool job as resident VJ
on myx, Heart's star has definitely risen since her first Candy cover in August 2000. Three years later, she
remains the ever-bubbly, charming, and super friendly Cady girl we all love.

Now and Then

Before the gazillion commercials and magazine covers she’s done, Heart’s first ever cover shoot for
a magazine was with—you guessed it, Candy! She confesses how giddy and excited she was during her
first shoot. "I was super kikay and sobrang daldal. I kept saying over and over again, ‘I’m so happy I’m a
model!" Beauty editor Ria shares that Heart used to be really conscious on cam, always asking, "Was I
okay?" Heart's more relaxed now -- but she does admit to still being super excited about doing another
cover.

Keeping it Real

This self-professed kikay gal is also spiritual. "With all that's happening to me now, I don't want to
forget God," she says. Super artistic Heart says that being on TV was just a wild childhood dream that
actually came true. "I never thought i could do it! God helped me out. I'm really blessed and at night, I
never go to bed without praying to Him first."
Surprise, Surprise "A lot of people say I'm mataray and that I look serious in pics," shares Heart. What's under that first impression however, is a down-to-earth gal ready to surprise just about anyone with a smile. "Once, I was in Glorietta and someone wanted to take my picture with her 7650 while I was on the escalator. She said, 'Picture, Heart!' and I asked her, 'Hindi ka ba sasama sa akin?" Heart surprised her unknowing fan by actually taking the picture -- with both of them in it. Heart doesn't mind being approached by people. "I'm sobrang friendly. When it happens, you just gotta smile." Myxing up the music Heart’s job as a resident VJ on Myx is perfect for her because she’s big on music, CDs, pop stars even classical music! "It relaxes me and it’s nice to listen to," she told us. Her favorites include Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. Her taste in music as developed in other directions over the years. "I’m hopelessly addicted to CDs. I love Coldplay and The Calling," she says. "I look up to Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, and Michelle Branch. They’re my dream interviews! I know a lots of people say Britney Sprears is baduy. I used to think that, but now that I’m in the same field as she is, I can definitely say she’s good. You can tell from the way she dances that she’s a real pro." Birthday Wished Last February 14, Heart celebrated turning 18 with a debut. Her best birthday memory goes back to her childhood. "My dad brought me to a toy store, and let me shop without a limit. I bought a whole family of Barbies! I bought the van, the house, a dog, and a horse. I was super happy!" Heart treasures her career as the best gift she's ever received." I wouldn't trade it for anything else, I love my job!" Copyright © 2003 Candy Magazine. All rights reserved.
