| The point is that you and I havent hung out in the past two days and I just thought that it would be a good idea to have some us time. He nodded. This wouldnt have anything to do with me asking Andie to stay in Capeside would it? He asked. She shrugged. I dont know. All I know is that ever since you pulled one of those grand cinema theatrical stunts, you have been a very difficult man to get a hold of. If you are not in school or painting that damn fence for Mr. Grouch, youre with her. Andies my friend and she was there when I needed her. She nodded. Are you sure thats as far as it goes? Because you know the amount of time that you two spend with one another could be considered as dating in another country. He shook his head. See thats where youre mistaken because in order for there to be dating involved there must be kissing She stopped and stared at him with raised eyebrows. Are you telling me that a date is only a date if there is flesh brushing against flesh? In my book, yes! He answered. In fact if people would kiss at the beginning of a date instead of at the end the whole uncomfortable, awkwardness could be avoided of whether or not the outing is indeed a romantic one or a platonic excursion between friends. She shook her head. Thats crazy. But effective. He replied. Like right now, this is strictly two friends enjoying each others company but the second you or I lean over and engage in some kind of intimate contact, thats when it alters everything. So all I have to do is lean over and kiss you and this becomes a date? She asked. He nodded looking over at her. There was a moment of silence as they stared at one another and then he turned away and cleared his throat trying to ease the tension that had developed between them. The Docks The city lights began to glow lighting up the piers one by one. Taking a seat on a bench she watched the sailboats bob up and down precariously on the water. Sighing deeply she leaned into the wood and listened to the soothing laps of the miniature waves that hit the shore. Is this seat taken? Pacey asked softly. Looking up at him she shook her head giving him a wide grin. Hey I havent seen you in the past two days. She remarked watching as he set himself down beside her. Yeah school has been killing me. Working hard? I wouldnt do you justice if I werent. He replied. She nodded. Thats good. So I bet you wish you were in Italy now huh? Maybe sitting at a small caf drinking some powerful coffee and discussing current events in perfect Italian. He remarked looking over at her. She shook her head. No Im exactly where I want to be. She whispered. Thats funny because you know two days ago you wanted to be in Italy with your aunt. He remarked trying to keep his voice light. I didnt know where I really wanted to be I wasnt sure remember? She retorted lightly. He nodded as though thinking over her answer. Right you were waiting for that moment that would tip the proverbial scale in favor of what was the best decision To stay in Capeside with your friends or to go to a cultured country that most people would give their right arm to see She sighed. Exactly and I chose Capeside. Right because Dawson gave you that moment that defining instant in which you knew what you wanted? He came to that airport probably running down that long stretch similar to those heroic men in all those conventional romance films where the guy stops the girl from leaving just in the nick of time. He was probably out of breath with his hair all tousled and wind-whipped looking every bit the leading man. Thats bordering on dramatic. I can assure you that it wasnt a Homeric movie moment by any means. Her statement would have come off more convincing had she not had a sentimental reminiscent grin on her face that didnt go unnoticed by Pacey. So what happened when he showed up? He told me that he knew it was probably wrong and selfish of him to ask me to stay but that he couldnt bare to see me leave without trying. So he asked me to stay and I said yes. It was pretty cut and dry, Pacey. He asked me to choose and I did. He debated on his next statement knowing that he was about to cross a line but unable to stop himself. So in actuality you chose Dawson. She looked over at him with a furrowed brow. I dont understand. She replied. Well, you said that he asked you to choose Italy or him. So you chose him. You chose, Dawson. She sat there for a moment looking down at her hands realizing that his words were right. I guess, in a manner of speaking yeah I did. I chose Dawson over Italy. She remarked with a shrug. . |
