A game of Tetris Invaders starts, but it's too slow, so more speed is gained. A couple blocks spin out of control but there's no trouble. It's still too slow so it needs to speed up some more. The ship from Asteroids comes in and starts shooting blocks but that gets taken care of. Suddenly there seems to be a little too much I-blocks coming down, and end up raining down but order soon becomes maintained. Along the way there a few glitches in the game and Frogger starts to cross into the game too. The game pauses, and figures start walking in. They want to get to the other side, but blocks keep coming down and crushing them all. The last surviver won't get crushed for a line that's needed so more blocks keep piling up on top of it until finally the figure is squished. The game pauses again and little dots fall down the screen. The game starts back up but Pacman comes in and starts eating the dots, while at the same time avoiding blocks. Ghosts come to chase Pacman but the blocks keep hitting them. A block finally hits Pacman and he dissappears, but the blocks are way too close to the top, and the screen starts flashing. The game gets more and more intense but a block finally crashes at the top and the game is over. Talk about Tetragasm. |

Yet another Xenon-inspired animation. I don't think Xenon's original animation is available anywhere on the web but I saved it on my hard-drive. I think Xenon was just doing some exercise in motion-tweening, all his animation had was a few oddly shaped blocks falling down the screen slowly, while this fancy music was playing. It never ceases to crack me up. Most people would say (well the only person who said it was Xenon so far) that my animation is better than his, but I don't know, his one had way better music. It has perfect comic timing around the end when he tried to wedge in some blocks up in the top corner, then it just pauses then loops back to the start again. When I was making this, I decided that I wanted to pay homage to as many classic gaming platforms as I possibly could, the ultimate one being Tetris. I play Tetris alot, and I think I'm farely good at it. I love it to be speedy in a sense where it is almost impossible to play, it's fast and intense and bad for the eyes...it's also rather noisy too. The music in my one is a techno song called "Mzmkzm" or something like that, where just after the doctor falls down (the point where I discontinued, in the incomplete version it's supposed to be when the figures come into the screen), the song would procede to go "mzmkzmzzeh-kzmzmzmkzmmzm-etc". I thought it was quite funky, but didn't play too well with the animation. When I tried exporting it and compressing the sound with 8kbps (rather than the usual 16kbps) MP3 quality, it sounded much better. Now I will talk about the troubles with making this animation. When I first started I only intended to spend one day on it, maybe two. I ended up spending about five days just to get up to where I have, and concluded that it's just taking too long. One of the reasons why it was taking so long was because it took up too much RAM just to load and save. I'm the kind of guy who saves my work every two seconds, but I couldn't do that with this animation because Macromedia Flash would freeze for about two minutes before I could start working on it again. I also realized I made a colossal mistake by not using symbols. I didn't want to use symbols because when all the blocks pile up and then make a line I have to use the eraser tool, and you can't use the eraser on symbols. I don't think I knew at the time that you could break up a symbol but it was too late anyway. If I went back and re-edited the whole thing it would have taken up way too much time...I mean, it's just a freakin' Tetris animation. |
