Health E-Tool Scavenger Hunt

Teachers: This scavenger hunt is designed to introduce students to online health tools that are free and easy to use.  These health assessments are great tools that can help students determine their current health status and the lifestyle students can change to improve their health.

1.  One of the best ways to monitor the intensity of cardiorespiratory endurance exercise is to measure your heart rate.  However, it is not necessary to exercise at your maximum heart rate to improve maximal oxygen consumption.  The target heart rate (THR) indicates the rates at which you should exercise to experience cardiorespiratory benefits.  Find the THR for Matthew who just had his 17th birthday.

2. 3.  Body mass index (BMI) is a rough measure of body weight correlating with measures of body fat.  Calculate the BMI for Micah who is 6'2" tall and weights 175 pounds.

4.  Bianca had finished a series of assessment test and the results indicated that fat loss would be beneficial for her.  She must either consume fewer calories or burn more through physical activity.  Bianca now weights 300 pounds wants to loose 2 pounds a week through exercise an hour daily.  However, she is not sure how many calories she burns during her workout.  Would you help her to determine how much calories are burned for the following exercises:
