My name is Sherry and I have been a Registered Nurse for sixteen years. I have a baccalaureate degree but that is just a BS degree in the hospital if you get my drift.

I enjoy teaching people who are interested about how to care for themselves. Until the end of summer in 2005 I worked in a hospital taking care of medical patients and those having ortho surgeries. I have since moved on to work for an insurance company performing drug review. Better than bedpans any day!

I saw more and more people coming to the hospital that expected it to function like a hotel and who had very little idea of what medications they were taking. In this season of nurse shortage and insurance cutbacks it is really important to KNOW about your health, your illnesses or conditions and your medications. It can decrease the amount of time you spend in the hospital and save you money. Might even save your life!

The days of someone else taking care of you are fading. You have to learn how to care for yourself and take more responsibility for your health care. You are the boss when it comes to deciding what you need. You pay for a doctor's time so get the most out of it!

I believe that most people make the best decisions for themselves if they have good information. And if that decision goes against what I believe I can rest easier, live with myself, if I have provided good information along with a healthy dose of consequences that are possible by not following the plan.

I also know that most people will participate in a plan of healing if they are involved in devising the plan in the first place.

I was born in 1962 in West Virginia and still miss those mountains. A healthy dose of green is good medicine for me, even after 31 years of being away. I am the mother of two teens in college and have transformed myself once again through the tool of divorce.

I am a computer geek and love to write and swim and otherwise create. I really enjoy building web pages.
