Cambodian song

Today we start publishing previews of our audio-materials. Let us open collection with song by the indigenous hunter Saret. Just imagine: Eastern Cambodia... Camp in the jungle... (This is how it actually was - when I went to this part of a wonderful country in search of romance with Wilderness). Together with my interpreter Savan, with Saret and Saret's young nephew, we walked through semi-evergreen forest, slept under open sky, enjoyed tracks and sounds of wild animals, as well as our own singing. While on the hike, we did only photo-hunting. Nobody was killed during this short, but completely unforgettable expedition :) Please enjoy the song!

Gibbons

More files today. These are wild gibbons, recorded in Kalimantan in 2006. Imagine: South of Central Kalimantan. Oil palm planters, timber companies and those who support them (including those who buy Indonesian furniture, consume too much oil etc.) removed almost all beautiful large trees in this greater part of the island. While occasional tourist travels through lowland Kalimantan, all he/she observes around are boring hundreds kilometers of oil palms and other cultivated plants, surrounded by smoking fields: burning thorny bushes, which (due to previous fires) replaced paradise-like jungles - home of wild orchids, orang-utans, and thousands other animals and plants.. There are also extensive green (non-burning) thorny bushes, especially during rain-seasons. If left undisturbed, these can become good rainforests sometime.

Only about 3 to 5% of original forests still remain in lowlands of the island. One of such remaining areas is Tanjung Putting (unprotected National Park). If you lucky enough to come there in period between rains and forest fires, you will yourself say: "Oh, God! Now I think I know what Paradise was like!" Wild animals enjoy freedom among healthy trees and above clean rivers. Particularly, in Tanjung Puting, one can still easily have sight of gibbons, and to hear their wonderful solos, duets and trios. Such was unforgettable experience of mine, which I am anxious to share with you now.

Hornbills

On 18-th October 2007, I have recorded these wild hornbills in forest. Or, to be exact: in what still remains of extensive, beautiful, once full of different fruits and animals, healthy rainforest.

Man

Question: can we - people - really talk to animals? I mean not just simple “conversation” - when specific command (such as: "eat!", “come here” etc.) results in simple reaction of animal (eating, approaching etc.), but rather indeed real conversation: a complex of meaningful questions and answers? And how far can we go in this human-animal talk? Some clues are in below audio-files. These are genuine howls of Russian hunter Nikolay Ivanovich. What happened to him? Did someone step on his sore place? No. He is imitating wolf's howl - in order to provoke other (real) wolves to reply. Moreover, he even told them to do the particular thing.., and they indeed started to make it! I have recorded this howling in some forest, in the dark night of August 1993, or about 7 years prior to I've realized that everything and everybody is our own “I”, and this “I” is God Himself! Now I never cooperate with hunters. But may my recording serve some good purposes! (Buy the way, if you know how to professionally remove noise from this recording, you can remove it and send back to me: I will gladly upload your edited file then).

Wolves

Continued from above. About 1 minute after Ivanych howled his last (above), ...the chorus of young wolves replied! And they did exactly what Ivanych told them to do! Apparently, our responders were all naive cubs, who's parents went out hunting pigs and goats, while we conducted our conversation.
