Letters of Charlottesville

Business Plan

Product   -   Information.

  1. Deliver informed, researched stories about the Charlottesville region, its government, people, history and environment in print and online.
  2. Connect the local experience to a national audience.   Begin a process of piecing together the Charlottesville story.
  3. Focus on the second half of the twentieth century, the history most relevant and most threatened.
  4. Encourage residents and former residents to share their oral and business histories as well as artifacts of history.   Examples of artifacts: any document showing an address of a location or tradition that no longer exists.
  5. Include those who have been excluded.
  6. Compete with local media by offering a thoughtful, literate discussion of controversies.   Let other publications deal with the trivial.
  7. Assume that knowledge is profit and ignorance is poverty.

Revenue   -   Donations and Advertisements

  1. Business Card - $15 per Issue.   Because of limited funds and circulation, your business card might not reach an actual customer.   But it will be a part of history.
  2. Silver Member.   Donation of $20 value or less.   Free subscription of next 10 issues and recognition.
  3. Gold Member.   Donation $20-$100 value.   Free life-time subscription and recognition.
  4. Angel.   $100 or more.   All the above rewards and go directly to Heaven.

Modify the business plan to meet new circumstances.   Maintain high standards and ethics.
