9 am   TWO TERRORIST ATTACKS KILL 5,000 CIVILIANS.
New York World Trade Center Twin Towers each hit by fully fueled, hijacked domestic airliner.   The two 110-story city-block-wide steel and concrete buildings collapse when fire melts steel beams.   The upper floors jackhammer downward.   Hundreds of rescue workers perish.
9:40   PLANE CRASHES INTO PENTAGON.
Airliner from Dulles hits Pentagon.   All civilian air traffic grounded for two days.   President flies to La. airbase.
10:10   PASSENGERS FOIL HIJACK, CRASH SOUTHWEST PA.
After learning by cell phone that New York and Pentagon had been attacked, passengers over-power hijackers.

Wednesday 12
NATO invokes Article 5: Attack on USA is attack on the 19-member alliance.   First collective defense in 52-year history of the alliance.

Thursday 13
State Secretary Colin Powell:   Osama bin Laden is prime suspect.   Five million dollar bounty for the 6�4� Saudi-born terrorist leader financier hiding in Afghanistan.   Nineteen hijackers of Arab descent identified.   The W Doctrine: he who harbors the enemy is the enemy. Charlottesville holds candle light prayer vigil at downtown amphitheater.

Thursday 20
President Bush addresses Congress.   �Fear and freedom at war.�

Friday 21
New York Stock Exchange loses 14.3 percent value, largest one-week decline since the Great Depression.

October 7 Sunday
US war planes attack Afghanistan military targets.   Taliban leaders continue to harbor bin Laden.  

Monday 8
FBI: anthrax found at Florida newspaper building.   One man dies, another without symptoms has spores in nose.

Wednesday 10
Third person found anthrax infected.   Whooping cough outbreak central Va.   The two diseases have similar symptoms as flu.

Today    Day and night bombing of Afghan targets continue. Stock Exchange has regained its loss.
