Ok, for the firsties and newbies, here are the rules (they are required reading):
*Incorrect: Hi. I'm Eve Winchester.
* Correct: "Hi, I'm Eve Winchester," she said as she moved closer to the waterfall where the group was.
2. A post should only contain what your character thinks, says, and does. Do not write for other people.
* Incorrect: "Hello," said Devon. "Leave me alone, I hate you," Eve replied due to her bad mood.
* Correct: "Hello Eve," said Devon as he looked at her, wondering if she was in a good mood.
3. All posts should remain in character. This means no references to posting, messages, online, ect...
* Incorrect: "Hello, is anyone online or using AOL?" asked Headmistress Winchester. "Respond to my post or email me."
* Correct: Headmistress Winchester walked in to the Heinz Hall, feeling unusually cheerful and sociable. She hoped someone would be willing to have a conversation with her.
4. Don't wait for someone else to start an adventure. Go ahead and start one yourself!
* Incorrect: "I'm bored- very bored- does anyone want to do something?" asked Deputy Headmaster Grace.
* Correct: Deputy Headmaster Grace walked up to the Heinz Hall late one night. The only thing on his mind was his appetite. He made it up to the last step before reaching the Hall when he suddenly tripped, creating a loud 'BAM!.' Certainly, that noise would have informed someone of his late night escapade.
5. Posts should be written in third person, past tense.
*Incorrect: I go outside to pick flowers and give them to Eve. It will be fun and confuse her.
*Correct: Devon went outside to pick flowers to give to Eve, hoping to confuse her.
6. No excessive foul language or unnecessary violence (keep your posts PG-13).
*Incorrect: Headmistress Winchester shouted at Deputy Headmaster Grace, "You @$$! Why the $&@$ did you *#@!*^& do that!?" She picked up the *$&#^(# table and threw it in the *($# air. Pulling out his secret dagger, he stabbed the @#$%!@@* girl to death.
*Correct: Headmistress Winchester glared at the Deputy Headmaster, planning on avoiding her completely. "Careful where you step," she called after him, "I hear the school monster's hungry for soulless teachers today!"
7. No characters or names from the Harry Potter book series whatsoever.
*Incorrect: Draco Weasely wanted to go visit his friend, Hermione Patil, but Professor McGonagall wouldn't allow it.
*Correct: Devon Grace walked through Braddock's Paths, planning to drop off paychecks for Professors O'Rourke and Maynard on the way.
8. Your characters will have no special powers or magical gifts unless authorized by the Headmaster. This includes magical creatures (veela, vampires, werewolves, etc. or part of one), rare objects (invisibility cloaks, pensieves, etc.) and natural or acquired gifts (Metamorphi, Anigmi, etc.)
*Incorrect: Bob telepathically told his friend, Don, that they should invisibly apparate to the secret island where they kept their pet dragon.
*Correct: With the light from Don's lumos spell, Bob could see that the plant had been badly injured. He began to heal it using the spell he'd leaned in classs.
9. First year posts are to be strictly maintained at a PG level.
* Incorrect: Nora, a first year Ahela, walked into the Heinz Hall and instantly locked lips with Greg, the boy she had been flirting back and forth with for the past week.
* Correct: Nora walked in to the Heinz Hall, instantly spotting her new friend Greg. She walked over to him and struck up a conversation about last night's Charms homework.
10. Posts with no message in context are unallowed and will be deleted upon observation.
11. No duplicate posts.
12. Every post outside the OOC board requires at least ten sentences.
13. Treat every author with respect.
