                                   Tie the Knot


Hey Again!

In the last lesson, we mastered the Extended Pentatonic Scales, right??  I hope so!

We had learned that Extended Scales tie the fretboard to the Pentatonic Scales we
learned back in Lessons 1 and 2.

There is a trick to these.  You can use these Extended Pentatonics in songs that are
written in both Major and Minor Keys.

When a song is written in a Minor Key, use the Minor Pentatonics (vi, ii, iii) to solo.

When the song is in a Major Key, use the Major Pentatonics (I, V) for your solos.

This isn't the total answer to your guitar soloing needs, but it is a good foundation
to start with.  To take this to the next level, you'll need that aid of an instructor
in your area, or a college where you can study music theory.

In the next few lessons, I'll try to put a little icing on the cake by relating major
and minor keys together.
