News

17/12/04 Trial Eights Dinner A four course meal with champagne reception for everyone involved in trialling this year, held at St Johns. A great excuse for all the triallists to get horrifically drunk on one glass of wine :)

17/12/04 Trial Eights at Henley The A, B and lightweight boats, named Shake, Rattle and Roll, went down to Henley for the day and raced the boat race course. The A boat won followed by the B boat with the lightweights closely behind.

4/12/04 Faribairns Dinner Was conveniently given a weekend off coinciding with boat club dinner - probably not a wise move on Kate's part but who was I to complain. Proceded to get very drunk and have a lovely time although the next morning was not so fun.

3/12/04 Senior Fairbairns The lightweights were entered as a time only crew which is a shame because they were the fastest womens crew in a time of 15:52, over 30 seconds faster than any other womens crew. Maggie continued their winning streak when the second men won the Fastest 2nd VIII trophy in a time of 15:50. The first men and first women both came 11th in their respective divisions posting respectable times.

2/12/04 Novice Fairbairns Another excellent day for the Maggie novices as they took three of the four available trophys, winning fastest VIII, fastest womens VIII and fastest second VIII. The other crews all did brilliantly as well. DOMINATION.

27/11/04 Clare Novice Regatta The Maggie crews all did very well. The first men and women won both the cups. This all bodes well for Fairbairns. Thunder Lady Margaret.

13/11/04 Cambridge Winter Head CUW entered the lightweight and a heavyweight VIII in 2 races each and between us we swept the board. The lightweights won their S2 category in a time of 9:37 and the heavyweights won S4 in a time of 9:23 and student senior in a time of 9:30 depsite catching a crab in the gut. The lightweights posted a time of 9:38 in student senior to come third behind Imperial. We got 2 pennants :) and, even more importantly, we beat the lightweights both times - yay!

4/11/04 Uni Fours Not a good race for Maggie crews. All the mens boats lost in their first round. The women did better, getting through to the final before they lost to a strong Clare crew

2/11/04 Queen's Ergs The first race for novices, this consists of a relay on erg machines with each rower doing 500m each. The first women came 3rd and the second women came 6th, making them the top second boat, in the upper division. The first men came 4th in the upper division, while the second men came 11th, just missing the final but making them the top second boat. The 3rd women came 8th in the lower division and the 4th boat came 13th. The mens 3rd boat came second in the lower division, just being beaten by CCAT B, but making them the top third boat. The 4th boat came 14th and the 5th boat came 20th. A promising start.
