A Lovers' Dance

Two lovers dance
tentative steps-
quirky and clumsy,
they tense
and
turn away.

They cry dry tears
of anguish.
Silence cuts the air,
but the silence
gives way.

They hear the music,
their tears grab
at the corners of their
mouths and pull.

A shy smile turns to
laughter.
The lovers kiss.
They dance a private dance
-perfection.
