Taken from Chapter 13: We Just Don't Feel Like a Team
...Becoming more alive as a human being is not just about
adaptation and adjustment, although these may be near the top
of the list for many community agencies and society as a whole.
Therapy helps people to become more responsive to their own
feelings where they can increase their capacity for both intimacy
and solitude. It is also about developing integrity by
acknowledging our own values and having positions on what
we believe and standing by them with the freedom to change
our minds in a moment's notice. We also have to live with the
consequences of our positions, and sometimes that is the
hardest part. It is not about being right, just about being
somebody.
