In a day and age where around the world where having two wives is a sin, director Abbas Mustan has come up with a subject even more daring.  Wife swapping.  Even though it is directed towards an Indian audience, who arent used to such subjects, it will still create an international stir.  Produced by Vijay Galani, Ajnabee is the chance that the Indian cinema needs.  It stars Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Kareena Kapoor, and Bipasha Basu.

The duo of Abbas-Mustan have done films mainly based on male related subjects, as their previous films Bazigaar and Soldier have proven that.

The movie is about two couples who swap wives and ends up becoming a murder mystery.  It starts off with Bobby Deol and Kareena Kapoor meeting each other and falling in love.  They plan their honeymoon and set off for Switzerland.  They arrive at their hotel and find out that their neighbors are Akshay Kumar and Bipasha Basu.  This is the start of the couples friendship.  For a small part of the movie, it shows them becoming friendly and taking picnics together.  The happiness doesnt last long as one day Bipasha make a futile attempt to seduce Bobby Deol, who will not let anything between them as him and Akshay have become close friends and he loves his wife.  Still, he decides not to tell Akshay what took place.  So he ignores the situation and both couples take another trip to Mauritius, only for Bobby to fid out that Akshay is just as evil as his wife.  Akshay wants to swap wives with Bobby as he has grown an interest in Kareena Kapoor.  Bobby still wont have anything to do with this and breaks off al relations with the couple.  Both Akshay and Bipasha apologize to the couple and become friends again.  Everything is all-jolly again until one day Akshay puts forth the same thought.  This time he succeeds as Bobby ends up sleeping with Bipasha only to awaken to find her dead!  The only logical explanation for everyone else is that Bobby killed her, and he makes a vain attempt to p! rove his innocence.

From this point on it turns into a murder mystery.  A case of whodunit.  While Bobby was in custody of the police he escapes and tried to gather evidence to prove his innocence.  When he finds out who actually killed Bipasha he is shocked and tries to figure out how it took place.  This is where the movie becomes really interesting as the audience will definitely not expect what takes place after the interval, especially when they figure out it isnt Bipasha who is really dead!

Abbas-Mustan have been known to direct different films.  Their most previous flick Chori Chori Chupke Chupke dealt with the subject of a surrogate mother.  They always want to tackle the subjects that are most off the norm in Indian society.  Although the wife swapping was just a small sub plot of the film it will meet with some resentment.  Still, it was what India as a society needed.  It was based on the Hollywood movie Consenting Adults.  Everyone has performed brilliantly in the film, especially Bobby Deol who has experience in a murder mystery movie (Gupt).  The music is by Anu Malik is compassionate.  The songs Mohobbat and Mehbooba are brilliant.  The picturization is also good but could have used to locales of Switzerland better.  Overall, the movie will surpass all expectations for those who watch it, but will still fail to make a solid impression at the box office.
