| October 2001 in Review - 11.20.01 Oh wow, it's already more than half way into November and I forgot to write up a monthly. Dayum. So anyway, this is how October went down. Well, many things happened. Mainly losses in the roster was our biggest issue yet. Nick, aka Timmy the Special Olympic Hero, voluntarily left the HCW roster after working a show with Johnny Flair and Eric Wingender. The match, a three way dance for the Chocolate Eater title (still yet to be renamed), was great. Many clips came out of it and it is one of the matches that will headline HCW's upcoming second music video. However, Timmy was not familiar with the technique of bumping and taking moves. This caused Flair and Wings to work stiff on Timmy at times they weren't fighting themselves. Timmy did not approve, and so a few days after, Timmy left the HCW to pursue his other Special Olympic sports. Timmy was a great friend and comrade to many... he will be missed. Also, Spike the Sharpman saw his last match in HCW as he lost to the Hoser and was brutally attacked by the rest of the roster. Basically, HCW was sick of Spike's shit and they wanted him to die. So they threw Spike in the trunk of Hoser's car and Hoser sped off. Spike the Sharpman was never seen again. This was the result of a loser leaves town match that was a big highlight of Columbus Day Chaos. In that one eventful PPV in which the previous match mentioned took place, many other matches turned out for the worse. The main event, Finneus J. Arbuckle vs. the HCW Heavyweight Champ, Bad Brad, did not yield great results. One of the unpleasent results was a rough gourdbuster which spiked Bad Brad's head into the ground. The champ was impaired for some time until he could finally finish the match. Well, I don't need to dig any further into October to pull out the bad stuff that happened. Obviously, HCW was suffering greatly from ring rust. The last big show before that ppv at Columbus Day was Massacre at the Oatka. Between the two ppv's, HCW had been suffering from poor or moderate at best wrestling and there was no signs of improvement. Of course, HCW was lacking that one key element... Teddy MV. Since God knows when, TMV has been out of action and unable to wrestle HCW shows due to an injury he received due to a hit-and-run accident. The lack of a leader sent the entire HCW roster into chaos. Finally, TMV made his short return at Columbus Day Chaos when he took a flamming, barbed wire, light tube on a 2 x 4 and smashed Finneus with it, causing him to lose his chance at gaining the HCW Heavyweight Title. TMV then vowed he'd be back for Bad Brad, the one he believes is the driver of the car that hit him. Will he make his comeback in November? That is a question that is on every fan's mind. It was during TMV's absence that one wrestler had capitalized on a perfect opportunity to advance himself in HCW's spectrum of faces. That one man is Johnny Flair. Johnny, after beating the Demon at MOTO 2k1 and getting jumped by his former tag team partner, Bad Brad, has faced some of the biggest action in his short career. Since the crumble of the Dynasty, Johnny Flair has been his own man, having respect for only himself, even when Timmy, one of HCW's biggest novelty character and face, was put in the same ring with him. His rivalry with Eric Wingender had advanced further into October, especially with the 3-way match at Columbus Day Chaos and other Blockparties. Will this also be leading into a match come November? Another burning question soon to be answered in the next Monthly. Finally, HCW's loss in talent has lead to the urgency of a new period of reformation of the fed. The HCW crew is looking for new wrestlers, scouting for superior talent, and also are discussing plans for a new arena. Stay tuned for the next Monthly, folks. November was a much more exciting, productive month for HCW and you won't want to miss the next installment of the HCW Monthly. That's all for now. Adios -Rob Monthly Awards: Hardcore Wrestler: Finneus J. Arbuckle. The man breathes hardcore wrestling. Some notable action from this hardcore wrestler are a corkcrew splash suicida off a chair onto Spike the Sharpman and the gourdbuster given to Bad Brad, who was most unpleased as his head dug 6 feet into the ground as he landed with an unruly impact. The close second was Teddy MV, who returned with a weapon never witnessed by HCW - a flamming, barbed wire 2x4 with a light tube taped to it. Dayum gee, that was like whoa. Innovative Wrestler: Johnny Flair and Eric Wingender tie, both for their many technical chains at CDC. Best Face: Teddy MV, because when you hear his name all you can mentally picture is a smiley face. That's how face TMV is. Best Heel: I award this one to Spike, in memorium of his promos that sent the town of Scottsville over board, taking to the streets in a fit of rage looking for a punk ass kid in a tech vest who addresses himself as "The Sharpman". Best Successful Spot: Many of the chains and combos worked in the Timmy v. Wings v. Flair match at CDC. Not much else contends with the spots worked in that match. Worst Botched Spot: When Finneus set up the chair on top of the announcer's table, all hell broke loose. Best Comedic Performance: Finneus J Arbuckle has some funny ass material on the mic. Biggest Push: No pushes were made in the month of October believe it or not. Since HCW lost characters from the roster, pushes have not been given to any characters. That's it for October 2001. Seriously, check back for November, there is much to write about and it will be up pretty soon. Later -Rob |
