Review of Blockparty 4.7.01:

Once again, I rushed to the HCW Arena in Scottsville to catch the show that the fans just can't get enough of: HCW Blockparty. It wasn't that crowded. There were about 10 people altogether, including some diehard fans who I'm not sure how they even found out about the Blockparty. But hey- everything was going as planned I guess. Weather was good, wrestlers were fit, and the action was as hardKore as ever.

I arrived right at the beginning of the first bout: The newcomer, the Patriot vs. the current US Champ, Finneus J. Arbuckle. Man, the Patriot, who I think is from New England or something, was schooling Billy Bob. The Patriot is pretty small in size. He wouldn't be able to contend against the MVPs like Wingender or Bad Brad, but against Arbuckle, he was kicking ass. The coolest move came at the end. The Patriot knocked Arbuckle outside. When Finneus got up to his feet, the Patriot when for a FLYING HURRICANRANA to the outside of the ring. Just as he landed on Finneus's shoulders, Finneus viciously powerbombed the rookie back into the ring onto the back of his neck! It was 1-2-3 and Finneus kept his precious U.S. Title.

I had a feeling We We Man was gonna show in this next match. Of course, the best way to start out a long and prosperous HCW career is to face off with We We in your first match. In Seth Tubman's case, it gave him a headstart in his brand new wrestling career. Seth is a geeky dude. He's got fishbowl glasses and tight blue sweatpants that are repulsive. But you got to give the kid credit. He's probably from a dirt poor family and he's only trying to make a living. Anyway, Seth and We We fight it out while Scott Hall chills at ringside. Seth drops some high leg drops onto We We's skull and then powerwalks around the ring, showing his anger and frustration to the crowd. All of the sudden, Eric Wingender storms into the ring and beats We We for no apparent reason but to get a rise out of the people in the audiance. He even tries to break Seth Tubman's leg. The Commish stands up and speaks his mind on how sick Eric's actions are, but Eric storms over to the announcer's table, grabs the Commish by the collar, throws him in the ring and tries to break his leg with a Sharpshooter. The fans cry for mercy. No one wants to see the Commish get hurt. Teddy MV answers the pleas for help and chases Eric outside of the ring. Now it is obvious why Eric interupted this match. Eric, in a fury, challenges MV to a match at the next PPV. Teddy agrees and at Spring Break Bash, he will lay the HCW World Heavyweight Title on the line.

The Dynasty, after revealing its third member, Spike the Sharpman, is surely gaining momentum as they take the HCW spotlight by storm. With their rap music, gang signs, and thug mentality, they're the new breed of anti-heroes in the federation. Both Johnny Flair and Bad Brad had matches this Blockparty. Flair vs. Jason Misner, a really hip kid, started off their match with many ground grapples and ended with submissions and chairshots. Flair emerged as the victor in that brawl, but that is certainly not the downpoint of Jason Misner's current streak, as his tag team with Anarchy is going places. Bad Brad and the Wheatland Chili Security Guard, JD, faced off next. Spike followed Bad Brad down to the ring, both wrestlers looking solid. And the Administration's JD came down next, looking even more focused than the boastful, cockey janitor. Bad Brad is a tough fighter who uses a combination of springboard maneuvers and the street smarts of a… uh… latino knife fighter. But JD is all power and all focus. This was a close call, and JD might have won it hadn't been for Johnny Flair's interference at the climax of the bout, and then the unruly gang beating that the Dynasty dished out on JD. No doubt that these two victories were a message to the Administration and Anarchy/Misner. The Dynasty are at large and they show no mercy.

Next up was a quick match between the charismatic Captain Loco and the richest kid in Scottsville, Eric Wingender. Both Captain Loco and Eric Wingender are extreme daredevils in the ring. Who could forget Wings' huge leap into the screen door at D-Day? And of course, Captain Loco only pulls off the craziest moves in every one of his matches. Some highlights were when Wingender leaped off the top of a ladder into the ring, pulling off a guillotine leg drop that would decapitate any ordinary man. Captain Loco performed a variety of his own kicks and saults. But the most hardcore moment was when Wings set up a table right across the ring and lined up Loco for a Razor's Edge from the apron to the outside through a press table! Both men fell through the table, while Loco took more of the impact. They fell right into the crowd and the HCWites all around the arena chanted "Holy Shit! Holy Shit!" A beautiful hardcore spectacle. Hopefully Teddy MV was watching, because Eric Wingender is one hell of a contender.

The final match of the night was a tag team match where the partners seemed to had nothing to do with each other. Yet, that added to the depth of the fight. Spike the Sharpman and the Hoser came to the ring first. The Dynasty boys had the announcers table to themselves, so during the whole course of the fight, they were either cutting short promos or cheering on Spike. Next, the Thief entered the arena sporting a gold watch he stole off of Eric Wingender, and a Canadian hockey jersey and hat that blatantly mocked the honor of our northern neighbor and also pissed off the Hoser. Finally, Teddy MV walked in carrying a stool, where he sat by ringside and stated that he needed his rest for the next PPV. The loyal MV fans cheered on. The Thief was doing most of the work, but was losing to a two man domination of Spike and Hoser. It wasn't until Teddy was tagged in that the action picked up the pace. Teddy MV even ripped a sleeve off of some shirt, set it on fire, and clotheslined Spike with it. It was brutally extreme, and the fans were going wild. But in the end, Spike the Sharpman and the Hoser got the win after interference from Eric Wingender and a well executed pin by Spike. Yet Teddy MV nor the Thief were shamed, since they were the true fan favorites, and the story was left to be continued… at SPRING BREAK BASH! - Rob
