| INSIDE HCW |
| Hello HCW fans. Welcome back to another editorial, however this one is not much fun for me to write. It has just come to our attention that Ricky Morton and "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton will not, I repeat will not be appearing in Williamsburg, KY this Saturday night. The reason... They have apparently chosen to take another booking with the NWA in Atlanta, GA for more money. Now this would have been fine with the promoters of HCW, if, and I repeat if, they had bothered to pick up a telephone and called and gave HCW enough time to find a suitable replacement. However they did not do that. Instead repeated attempts to reach them via telephone have resulted in cell phones being turned off, and messeges not being returned. Apparently they have had the intentions to screw over HCW and the fans in Williamsburg for sometime now. Below is an official statement that was released late last night from HCW officials. "We at HCW have just learned of an NWA show at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA for this Saturday, June 7th. The promoters of this event are advertising Bobby Eaton and Ricky Morton, as Bobby Eaton apparently will be inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame, and will team with Dennis Condry to face the Rock & Roll Express in a match. We at HCW would have had no problem working with Mr. Eaton and Mr. Morton on this matter had they called and gave us the proper notification. We believe that they have decided to ignore their commitment to the fans of Williamsburg, KY for a more substantial payoff. Repeated attempts to contact them via telephone have failed, as Mr. Morton's cell phone has apparently been turned off, and attempts to reach Mr. Eaton at home and by cell phone have been ignored. We find this act to be both unnecessary and unprofessional, as both committed to appear in Williamsburg a couple of months ago. We deeply apologize to our fans for this unprofessional turn of events, but promise to still deliver the best in pro wrestling this Saturday night." Indeed I am saddened to be reporting this because of my respect for both men. They were both childhood heroes to myself and millions of other fans of 80's wrestling. Unfortunately this is what's wrong with the pro wrestling business. You have guys involved that will take bookings knowing in advance that they are going to screw over a promoter and the fans, and they don't care. Congratulations gentlemen for a very dubious accomplishment. You are the first quote "name" talent in the 13 year history of this company to pull a swerve and screw over the company and it's fans. Enjoy the Hall of Fame gentlemen. |
