SHELTER HOURS
PROGRAMS
The Highland County Humane Society is a group of people who strive to educate the commmunity and the people on proper pet care. Our shelter is located on State Rte 124, two and a half miles east of Hillsboro. We are one of the last 300 "no-kill" animal shelters that is still operating nationwide. Our shelter is operated from itemized and monetary donations.

With the support of the people in Highland County, we have worked to improve the welfare of animals through education, legislation and prevention of cruelty. We are a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, guided by a dedicated board. Though united with many humane societies across the country in a common concern for animals, the Highland County Humane Society is an independent organization relying on the generosity of donations from the people of Highland County. For that, we thank you.
