Early Ladies'-Tresses (Spiranthes vernalis)

This is the earliest of the four species of ladies'-tresses found at Curtis-Beauchamp to bloom. It is often found  growing in association with little bluestem and blooms in late June to early July. The flowers are arranged in a single spiral and leaves are present at flowering time.
