Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa)

This seldom seen and wary species over winters as adult. Adult food sources probably include sap, rotting fruit and scat. Host plants are several kinds of trees including willows (Salix spp.), cottonwoods (Populus spp.), elms (Ulmus spp.), and hackberries (Celtis spp.).
