| The Interdisicplinary Cooperative Education Program is designed for the Senior who can demostrate competency in job skills required in one of several technical areas and is ready to pursue employment in that technical area. Generally, these education programs will have developed these technical skills through involvement in one of the career and technical education programs at Heartland Career Center, their home high school, or through their extensive study in other program at their high school. the goal in this program is to provide the student with a work experience that is not generally available to the high school student. While no obligation to employ the student following high school exists, often the students can secure full-time employment following graduation. The student will work a minimum of 15 hours per week on school weeks, All state and labor laws will be followed. Working beyond the 15 hour minimum is allowed within labor law restrictions as long as the student is able to maintain acceptable grades in all courses they will take at their home school. All students will report to Heartland Career Center for the related classroom instruction one afternoon per week, Prospective students should submit an application in early spring . Teacher recommendations will be requested and personal interview scheduled, By mid-May students will be begin in the fall at the start of the school year. |
