| Utilizing a curriculum designed by National Restayrant Association, students learn basic of quantity food preparations and service with flair. A variety of areas are covered ranging from food preparation to meal service and restaurant managemeny skills. Students can qualify to take the National Restaurant Association cerification test upon successfully completing to two years curricilum, A food service "after school" job is required for certification . Through SkillsUSA students can participate in food preparation contests and leadership competitions. Medal winners can earn valuable college scholarships and the opportunity to travel to conventions. The commercial Foods program has represented the program the State of Indiana in Commercial Baking four times in the last ten years. Students may enroll in the program for one or two years, but certification is only available to students completing two years snd meeting Pro Start requirements. Peogram completers can obtain employment in a varity of food service establishments or pursue further education. Useful classes in high school include nutrition and foods, science and math courses. |
