| Automotive Service Technology students will learn basic repair skills. They will study diagiosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of modern automobiles and light trucks. Standard and metric measurement will be learned as well as maintenance of manual and automatic drive train systems, brake service, fue systems, ignition systems, suspension systems, brake serivice including repairs and drum and rotor resurfacing. In addition the student will learn shop safety, tool useage, electrical and electronic control systems and on-board computerized system diagnosis. Students may enroll in this class for one or two years. During the final semester the student can apply for an internship with a related business to gain more experience. Through SkillsUSA students can participate in a variety of skill contests and leadership competitions. Successful students earn valuable college scholarships and the opportunity to travel to conventions. |
