Gas/Diesel Power Technology
2 Semesters 6 Credits (11-12)
This one or two year program is for students interested in the mechanical field, as a technician, parts person, shop foreman, or service writer. Students gain experience in gas and diesel engines ranging for 20 to 250 horsepower, transmissions, brakes, rear-ends, fluid drives, hydraulics, and electrical systems on trucks, tractors, combines, and small engines. Students learn the basics of shop safety and tool useage, engine operations, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
     Students also have the opportinity to participate  in pulling contests with modified lawn tractors built by the students. Graduates can obtain employment with implement dealers, manufacturers or in the area of  gas/diesel engine manufacturing or repair. Additional post-secondary training will result the higher earnings.
    This course is also one of four courses that can selected for participation in the Industrial Mantenance program.
