Business Technology Lab
2 Semesters 6 Credits (11-12)
Students looking for a career in the world of business or positions related to office support, bookkeeping and other office positions will benefit for the Business Technology program. Students learn a variety of job skills and other knowledge necessary to become succesful, competent, office employees. Working in an environment that simulates an actual office setting, students use equipment and materials utilized in the business world. The workplace setting is enhanced even more with professional attire and the assignment of rotating staff positions to students. A variety of computer programs (with Office 2007 as the core program)  are learning as well as the operation of common office equipment. Students become competent at the word procedures. spreadsheets, databases, records management, transcritption, payroll proedures and many other procedures. Students may enroll for one or two years. The capstone of the second year is the possibiliyy of a local internship for those students who meet classroom standards. Keyboarding skills are very important to success in the program. Other business coures, including computer applications, taken at high school will also benefit the student.
    Involvement in Business Professionals of Amercia (BPA) allows students to develop leadership skills and compete in distict,state and national competitions. Successful students may also qualify for college credit through dual credits at Ivy Tech.
