Nick says: Relax. What may seem new and strange today will seem comfortable and familiar by January. It's a new school and a new school year. New teachers, new friends, new ideas. Remember: School is school. You've done this all before, and you can do it again. Have a great year!
Gretchen says: To help you get a start into your first year of middle school, I'll give you a few pointers: > Always keep a pencil! Your pencil is, and will always be, your best friend. The teacher's biggest pet peeve is you asking" May I borrow a pencil?" > Keep busy. Teachers in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade all want you to work as hard as they are working. Remember this: "Homework is more fun when you're writing none!" > As all teachers say, "Do Your Best!" Your best is all that matters, and all they can ask for, nothing else. Last, remember to relax! You're in good hands! All teachers will give you a second chance, since you're here to learn, not to feel punished.
Mike says: Be sure to keep up with your work--keep up with the homework and with Miss Leary's book log. It's easier if you just get it done and then you can relax. I hate that feeling you get when you are not prepared...
Annie says: When I entered 6th grade, the key to getting used to middle school for me was organization. Here's what worked for me--all of similar supplies should be of the same color. For example, all your binders could be different colors and all the spirals could be different colors. This way you won't get confused about which book to grab. As you get older, teachers will not let you go back to your locker. Any important papers that need to be brought back to school, such as permission slips and work sheets, I clip into my Agenda. So, do your best & you'll succeed in middle school!

Keisha says: I didn't know many kids when I started at HB. I felt kind of funny. Then I found out that lots of other kids were feeling the same way I was. Kids were there in 6th grade from lots of different schools. I made some new friends after a while. I like going to school here now. I know the teachers and and I know my way around the school.
