| Not quite Rattle&Hum, however Hope is a first rate concert album, showcasing Jonathan and the band's ability to rock live. It is a spiritual, faith based album with much of the music prophetic, or written on the spot. It is moving and hypnotic, but for those interested in more traditional songs, the album showcases some stunning tunes. A different version of "Precious Jesus" than appears on This I Know, "We Will Run and Not Grow Weary" and "Welcome Home" are examples of Jonathan's powerful voice and guitar playing, along with his inspirational words. "Jersualem" and the available "True Love" are remarkable songs that could have easily appeared on God Candy or the follow-up studio album. The video of the concert is excellent and is a great companion for this entertaining and uplifting album. |
