| HISTORIC BAPOTIST DOCTRINE __________________ Adam Did What He Was Created To Do |
| God created the situation for Adam to sin. Why? Because it was His purpose. God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden and made a Law by telling Adam not to eat from the tree, knowing full well that he would brake His Law and God had full knowledge of all the sin, death and misery that would fallow. So no, Adam did not have free will, but did what He was created to do, according to God's purpose. I know of two reasons why God would do this. God wanted to make His power and wrath known and He wanted to redeem a people back to Himself. Why? Because God wanted to bring glory to Himself. That is what it is all about, God being glorified in the salvation of His people and the damnation of the wicked. God created all things, yes even the wicked for the day of evil. God's perfect and immutable knowledge of all things from the beginning eliminates free will. If God knows, from the beginning, that you will choose B over A, then do you really have the power or ability to choose A and make God wrong? All things that are known by God are unchangeable. Add the sovereign factor of God and then not only are all things unchangeable, but they are determined by God. Either God purposed the fall or He knew that it would happen and He did not stop it. I serve the God that has purpose and is in complete sovereign control of all of His creation. Supralapsarianism - An issue within Reformed theology dealing with what may have happened in God's mind regarding the logical order of His considering whom to elect into salvation before the foundation of the world. The word means "before the fall." This position holds that God first decided that he would save some people and then second that he would allow sin into the world. Posted: 6th August 2006, 05:12 PM |
