| HISTORIC BAPTIST DOCTRINE _________________ Arminian Or Calvinism |
| Arminian says -- man has free will.
Calvinism says -- God has free will. Arminian says -- God does not violate man's will. Calvinism says -- man does not violate God's will. Arminian says -- Jesus died for all. Calvinism says -- Jesus died for no one in hell. Arminian says -- God loves everyone. Calvinism says -- the Love of God is in Christ, Jesus. Arminian says -- election of God is up to man. Calvinism says -- election of God is just that. Arminian says -- I owe my election to my faith. Calvinism says -- I owe my faith to my election. Arminian says -- Jesus made salvation possible. Calvinism says -- Jesus made salvation sure. Arminian says -- man is dead in sin, but not totally. Calvinism says -- man is dead in sin, yes totally. Arminian says -- God saves sinners with help from man. Calvinism says -- God saves sinners. Arminian says -- believing makes one a sheep. Calvinism says -- believing reveals one to be a sheep. Arminians says -- the Father gives all to the son and most will be lost. Calvinism says -- the Father gives some to the Son and none will be lost. Arminian says -- God is trying to save all. Calvinism says -- God is saving the elect. I agree with Spurgeon -- "we all are born Arminian." Calvinism is very offensive to the human mind. I understand this. I was once an Arminian. When faced with the truth of God's word, I was humbled before the Creator of the universe when I truly realized that the only reason that I believe is because God chose me before the foundation of the world. there was nothing in me that makes me better that the reprobate in hell and if there is anything in me now that would be worth saving, it is only because He put it there. But by the grace of God there go I. As a Christian I believe that there needs to be a true understanding of the Atonement of Christ. Ether God is trying to save all and is failing to save all or He is not trying to save all. Either the death of Christ is a substitute for all and that would include those that were in hell at the time of the death of Christ or for a chosen number. ether all have been bought with a price or the Church and only the Church as been bought with a price. "The doctrines of grace separate the Christian faith from the works-base religions of men. They direct us away from ourselves and solely to God's grace and mercy. They destroy pride, instill humility and exalt God."- James R. White (The Potter's Freedom) Posted: Feb 15th 2005, 10:55 PM |
