| HISTORIC BAPTIST DOCTRINE _________________ God Is Active In The Lives Of The Wicked |
| God is active in the lives of the wicked. This would include actively hardening the heart of the wicked to fulfill His purpose and for His glory. A very good example would be the story of Moses and Pharaoh.
The Word of God says that Pharaoh hardened his own heart six times, but it also says that God hardened Pharaoh's heart ten times and the first mentioning of a heart being hardened was Pharaoh's heart that was hardened by God first. There are four reasons that I have found that states why God hardened Pharaoh's heart. The reasons are: 1. So Pharaoh would not let God's people go. 2. So God could multiply His signs and wonders in the land of Egypt to make His power known to all. 3. To kill Pharaoh's first born son and every first born male child, including the animals, in Egypt, except those that God spared. 4. To chase the Hebrews, after Pharaoh finally let them go, so God could kill the Egyptians by drowning them. If you read this story carefuly, you will see how God was active in the causing of Pharaoh to sin in the hardening of Pharaoh's heart. If God tells you to do something and you do it not, it is sin. Read it for yourself. It starts in Exodus 3:1 Exo 4:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. Exo 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: Exo 4:23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
