Saskatoon, SK

I live south west of the city of Saskatoon on an acreage and I was out side with my dog at about 11:20 pm April 4,2001 and saw a multicolored light in the south east corner of the sky. Initially I thought that it was a satellite or an airplane but it just sat there. It appeared to be relatively flat and the colors changed from white to red to green. With binoculars I was able to see more that one color flashing intermittently and it seemed to be spinning because the color pattern was in the same order. It didn't appear to move for the fifty minutes or so that I watched it with my sister. I filmed it with my camcorder and was able to get some of the color. I went into the house for about 20 seconds and came back and it was gone.

Saskatoon, SK

July 24, 2001, 11:45 PM

This sighting just happened on Tuesday night (July 24th) at approx.11:45.(before midnight anyway)
I was in Saskatoon staying overnight with friends on my way back to Calgary. My friend Rob and I were sitting in his back yard beside a fire, chatting, and looking at the stars. I grew up on the prairies and spent a lot of time doing this, from the time I was 8 or 9. (now 41) I've seen satellites, I've seen meteorites. I know what planes are. This was none of them!

As we sat looking upward an object came into view from the northern part of the sky. It consisted of two lights of a fixed distance from each other, moving from the north to the south at a speed and height inconsistent with local air traffic. As it passed directly overhead I could make out a faint delta wind shape, and the lights appeared to be near the edges of the wing tips. It only took about 15 sec. for it to come and go from our sight. The lights did not blink and were no brighter than the brightest star out that night. I was expecting to hear jet engines as it passed over head. When we heard absolutely nothing on such a calm and clear night we both knew we had not seen a plane. It's speed was very constant. It was moving faster than a plane, but not extremely fast. It's height was hard to judge but I'd say it was a few thousand feet up at most. We lost sight of it behind the neighbours roof top as it continued south.

I'd be very interested to know if any other reports were made of this object and if it perhaps showed up on local radar.

Sincerely, Wes Fyck
Calgary Ab.

November 30, 2001

Canadian Air Defence received a report that the pilot and co-pilot of a commercial airliner observed a UFO on November 30, 2001, while flying over Saskatchewan.

The pilot saw "strobes and flashing lights which he estimated to be 25,000-30,000 feet above him. The aircraft was at 39,000 feet. There was a FedEx flight in the vicinity at 37,000 feet but the pilot of the passenger aircraft could not see the same lights and strobes on the FedEx plane. The lights and strobes were in the vicinity of the FedEx flight but were much higher. The pilot noted that the UFO did not look like a satellite.

The pilot first saw and reported the incident at 120306Z Dec 01 and it was still in sight when CAD was informed at 0314Z. The position of the passenger aircraft at the beginning of the observation was 51 25N 106 47W."

This would have put the aircraft somewhere over Craik, SK, between S'toon and Regina. The aircraft was flying westward to Calgary at the time. The report did not give details on the direction the unidentified object was observed, nor its own motion. No mention was made of any radar detection, although since it was reported to ATC and the FedEx flight was noted as the only one in the area, then it would be assumed that the object was not detected on radar. From the wording of the CAD report, it seems that the FedEx flight was seen by the pilot of the passenger aircraft, but that its visual appearance was different from that of the unidentified aircraft.
