| Shag Habor, Nova Scotia October 4, 1967, 11:00 PM On the night of October 4,1967, shortly after 11:00 PM, a UFO some 60 feet in diameter was seen to hover the water near the tiny fishing village of Shag Harbor, Nova Scotia. The UFO, whiched displayed four bright lights that flashed in sequence, tilted at a 45 degree angle and descended rapidly towards the water's surface. Upon impact, there was a bright flash and an explosive roar. Concerned witnesses began calling the nearby Barrington Passage RCMP detachment. None of those witnesses mentioned anything about UFOs,. Most believed that a large aircraft had ditched onto the harbor and that there might be survivors. Eventually, three RCMP officers at: the shore near the impact site. Corporal V. Werbicki and Constable Ron O'Brien, dispatched from the Barrington Passage Detachment, were approaching from the east of the site. Constable Ron Pond, who was on highway patrol on Highway #3, was heading towards Shag harbor from a position west of the impact site, and his position allowed him to view the UFO while I was still in flight. The unusual lighting configuration and flight characteristics tipped Constable Pond off to the unusual nature of the object long before he heard from Cpl. Werbicki, who received his information through the initial complaints to the detachment. When all three officers met at the impact site they found that the UFO was still floating on the water about a half mile from the shore, it was glowing a pal yellow and was leaving a trail of dense yellow foam as it drifted in the ebb tide. Neither the Rescue Co-ordination Center in Halifax nor the nearby NORAD radar facility at Baccaro Nova Scotia, had any knowledge of missing aircraft, either civilian or military. Cst. Pond reported that the object had changed during its descent to the water's surface, i.e., it changed shape, and that it disappeared to be "no known object." Later, other local witnesses described much the same details as those of Cst. Pond. Also, a coast Guard lifeboat from nearby Clark's Harbor and several local fishing boats were summoned to investigate, but the UFO had submerged before they reached the site. The sulfurous smelling yellow foam continued to well to "the surface from the point, where the UFO went don, and a 120 by 300 foot slick developed. Search efforts continued until 3:00 AM and then resumed at first light the next day. Everybody involved was convinced that "something" -- that is, something real and unidentified had gone into the water. Lower Hood Harbor, N.S. UFO Report - October 4, 1967 An RCMP Corporal and six other witnesses observed what they believed to be an unidentified flying object off the south west coast of Nova Scotia, Canada on the 4th, October 1967. The object was described as approximately 60 feet in length and was flying in an easterly direction when first sighted. During their observation, the UFO descended rapidly to the surface and made a "bright splash" as it struck the water. For some time after the impact a single white light remained on the surface. The RCMP Corporal endeavored to reach the floating white object, but unfortunately, before he could reach the location the object sank. A search of the area failed to produce any material evidence which could assist in explaining or establishing the identity of the object. An underwater search conducted by divers from the Department of National Defense also failed to locate any tangible evidence which could be used to arrive at an explainable conclusion. UFO Report Marine Air Command Headquarters 5217 South Street Halifax, N.S., Canada Dear Sirs. I would like to inform you that I saw a strange object in the sky the late evening on March 25, 26, 27, 29 and 30. At around 10:45 it would first appear and by 11:00 PM it was about 30 degrees from the horizon. It was almost directly northeast from New Germany. It appeared to be flickering red light, very bright, and had several small pinpoints of red light around it. It sometimes appeared inside an elliptical mass of glowing red gas - like light. It also moved from side to side and up and down slightly and seemed to throw out showers of sparks when doing so. As the evening progressed, it moved higher up in the sky (probably since the earth turns around), making it seem to hold one position but move slightly around in it. I was unable to see it on the evenings of March 28, 31 and April 1 because the sky was clouded. If you have any information on this, would you please inform me what it is you know, or if you think it is a UFO |
