Old memories:
11/16/06 - Many things have happened!:
We (the opal ovals) have played quite a few shows since this website was started. I've been terrible at updating it, forward apologees to all. We played with pony pants, Jason Anderson (who is one of the best people on earth, easily), Suishou no fune (who were incredible), xerxes (who were also incredible). Major stars also played, but were complete bullshit, and I'm pretty sure angered as220 indefinitely (and with good reason). I hate to badmouth anyone, but they were damn near unreasonable.
There are some new shows up. We're playing with fang island, grim wanting and the casual lust on sunday at the former may-n-kevin 4eva space, and that should be incredible. Our two dear bandmates need to get back home, so the show is a benefit in their dignified honor. The next show is at the living room with grandma./kittenz, fortress of sunshine, bernard dolan (!) and killing pablo, and is sure to be the best show at the living room as of late by far (nice and conceited for you [jks abound!]).
But, alas, the opal ovals are breaking up. There are many reasons, but not a single one of why anyone should fret- we do have the beijing opera collective, and that will not die, in fact this is entirely for the better. Apdo, Mikazaki and I have started a project called weak magnets, which will debut this sunday at may-n-kevin in addition to the opal ovals. The show on the 28th will mark the end of the ovals.
We've been working on a recording and should have it done within the week. It was recorded atop an old mausoleum at a live show for those who lay rest. We also added a bunch of things to it, and finally got a copy of max/msp again (HURRAHS!)
That and the fuzzy forest/aura aurora split will actually come out. It's the next thing I work on after weak magnets. I have no idea who is looking forward to it or who even reads this site, but writing it makes it feel more concrete and planned. So mark my words, html.
I think that's about it. We now have things for sale, so mail me with a small denomination of currency and you will reap the benefits!

11/19 - May-n-kevin 4eva (the former space) (providence, RI) - 8pm - $donations encouraged - The Opal Ovals featuring Weak Magnets (first performance), fang island, grim wanting and the casual lust. This is a benefit show for mikazaki H. and Apdo in their honor to get themselves back on their two feet.
11/28 - the living room (providence, RI) - 9pm - $TBA? - The Opal Ovals (last show ever.), grandma./kittenz, fortress of sunshine, bernard dolan and killing pablo.
9/14/06 - This happy place was made. It's soul intention is to do everything. Things are for sale, things can be read, things can be looked at. It's late and acorns fall and sound like ping pong balls from up here. It's marvelous!
Currently, there's been much work to do on a release through the beijing opera entitled "The Summertime Machine Encyclopedia". The silliest thing is, it actually is an encyclopedia, complete with art for each letter in the alphabet, all relating to this big idea we have but don't tell anyone. It'll be released sometime this fall, and hopefully before the more important shows, which are happening too soon to even begin to anticipate.
