In the Rain
by Amanda L.B.
I think this is written beautifully and I have to give props to whoever Amanda is.  I know it's a little long, but it's well worth it at the end.
Out the window, I stared into the darkness,
As the rain thundered against the ground.
I tried to forget what you said,
But your words seemed to stay around.
"I don't think I love you,"
You said as you held my hand.
"There's something different between us,
that I can't quite understand."
I closed my eyes and began to cry,
I couldn't get over this pain.
I wiped my eyes and took a deep breath,
And I ran out into the rain.
I didn't know where I was going,
Or how far it would take me.
The only thing I really knew was,
In front of me is all I wanted to see.
From out of the darkness,
I heard you call my name.
I didn't turn to look at you,
I was tired of your stupid game.
You finally caught up to me,
But I kept pushing you away.
"Please listen to me," you begged.
"I have something important to say."
You pushed back my hair,
That lay matted to my face.
You caressed my chin so softly,
I tingled at your embrace.
"What I meant to say,
That this love for you has grown so much.
That I want to be with you forever,
I can't live without your touch."
As he spoke these words to me,
I could see in his eyes.
He was trying to hide it,
But he was getting ready to cry.
"Please believe me when I say this,
But I really don't know where to start.
But there's nothing left for me to do,
Except offer you my heart."
And so he pulled out a velvet box,
And he smiled and bent down onto one knee.
The rain still pouring down as he asked,
"Will you marry me?"
He placed the ring upon my finger,
As it all began to set.
And as the rain came down that night,
It was then that our lips met.
