Task 1-13 My Best Friend 3 - Timeline

1.  Your third project for your Best Friend is to prepare a timeline of important events in their life.  You will learn to use note cards to record your research and will continue to use proper footnoting.  Use 3x 5 index cards and a small baggie to keep them in.

2.  Find 12 events.  You are to discover the 12 most important dates in the life of your Best Friend.  Only 5 of these can be personal events (birth, death, marriage, graduation, children born, etc).  The remainder must be their accomplishments.  You must document (footnote) each event.

3.  Note Cards.  Make a separate Note Card for each event, using the index cards.  Notes must be in your own words, but do not have to be in complete sentences, unless you use quotation marks.  Read the handout on Research Cards and follow that format for your Note Cards.

4.  Bibliography Cards.  Make one Bibliography Card to list all the sources you use.  If you have a lot of sources, you may go onto a second card.  Read the handout on Research Cards and follow that format for your Bibliography Card.

5.  Draw timeline.  Give your Timeline a title.  The 12 events must be shown on a timeline, with the date and a brief description of the event.  Each description must have a footnote.  For example

6.  Include visuals.  Your timeline should be illustrated with at least 3 visuals.  You should make it clear which event(s) the visual is related to by labeling the visuals.  Your title, timeline and visuals should fill the page.

7.  Footnotes.  On the back of the page, put your name and period and the 12 footnotes in proper MLA format.

8.  Turn in the Timeline and your baggie full of Note Cards and your Bibliography Card.  Make sure your Cards have your name on them.

9.  Project is due September 17, 2004.
