| The Hayward Fire Department is comprised of a group of proud, dedicated and hard working volunteers whose mission is to provide safety and protection to our rural community as well as mutual aid to surrounding communities. The departments service area is 50 square miles which includes the city of Hayward. Most of the jurisdiction's land use is for agriculture. US Interstate 90 runs through the service area and accounts for 40 percent of all department calls. The majority of the calls are medical first response, followed by motor vehicle accidents. Wildland fires are common during the spring and structure fires do occur throughout the year. The department also helps surrounding departments with mutual aid. A detailed call report will be available on this web page in the future. Volunteers Needed As a volunteer department, there is always the need for new members. If you are interested in a volunteer position and you live or work within the departments service area, please e-mail the Hayward Fire Department or join us at one of our meetings. The department meets the second Wednesday of every month at the fire station in Hayward. |
