HAYWARD COMMUNITY GARDENS

SATURDAY OCTOBER 3 2004

 

1.        Minutes from August reviewed

  1. Nabi should be told that son must get onto waiting list
  2. Nothing to report on new garden site potential
  3. Still working on getting contractor out to check on timers
  4. Rules Infraction letter reviewed, instructed to add pathway clearance language with atteched fine schedule—14 day notice to comply with covenant, $25 dollar clean-up fee.  Also instructed to add rule regarding the plot holders responsibility for children’s acts.

 

2.        Membership fees discussed, plan for sliding scale at 25, 50, 75, 100 extremely low old members who have currently over 2; $ 25, second plot for $50 for new member extremely low with family of 5 (max 2 plots)

Same pattern for low and regular income.

Agreed that $100 fee for all non-volunteering non-residents-but the issue of volunteerism  came up. Suggested that lower fees would apply with sgned agreement to volunteer for X number of hours REFERRED TO ADMIN FOR ADVICE

 

3.        Compost issue—plan of action re signs and clean up—need to have volunteers directed to the chore. Adil Kendra and Sandy on the ‘sub-committee.’

4.        Market Garden—decided to rent two of the Whitman side plots and keep the 6 Berryside plot in production, making a total of 11. Need coordinator for production and harvest etc.

5.        Mural- presented and approved—instructed to find money to pay artist.

6.        Membership Drive Schedule—Start time, Nov. 6, Deadline Jan. 15. Late fee—all plots $100 to returning members failing to reinstate. Jan. 31, absolute cut off; plots deemed open; Locks change Jan. 15, 2004. Chayote and temporary sheds cleaned and down on Jan. 31.
