Croatia!.. This place impressed me
I cant believe all the brits still whinge that its a war torn country - get over it, it was a decade ago, and they go to lebanon?

We flew into Split and caught a bus to Markarska, half way between Split and Dubrovnik. We met up with Kane and Michael for 7 action packed (pretty lazy) days.

This is a shot of Markarska - the water was as good as it looks.
We got this hotel for cheaper than the hoStels we got in Italy (ie: Amazing)
This was the view from our balcony. There were people there that got up early to bags a lounger by the pool with their towel - and didnt move from it all day. Im still confused as to why they went....Ahh the package holiday labotamy...
We had been hanging out for a beach for a life time in London so we got some serious swimming done. Check out how clear the water is -
Kane & Michael reccomended a jump off the cliff to wake up in the morning. As usual its higher than it looks. Kane rekoned it was safe - and Ive got the bruises to show (Keep the arms by the sides)

We were jumping over a bar thats dug into the cliff below, there's another one on the other side of the bay.
This is inside the bar, cool aye?
Prep for the dance floor
The fruit boat pulls up
Poor old Nat didn't enjoy this. I figured 15 minutes, so go as hard as possible and she'll get over it. The groinal region took a while to get over it though, man its hard to stay on.

Michael got pulled up by the police boat on his jet-ski and was asked for his licence, which is just confusing
Theres a fare bit of danger towing 3 at once, the old knock of the skulls.

We moaned that he would go a tourist speed, he didnt and we looked like complete pussies.
For 15 pounds we got a day trip out to the island Brac and stopped a couple of places on the way. It included a fish lunch and alcohol.

We turn up 30 minutes early to get a good seat, but underestimated the efficient germans who have already taken all the seats. We crammed a few deck chairs over the anchor rope at the bow.

It was a Bloody hot day
At 9.15am A child serves us all shots of Rakia which is a spirit made from grass and is as strong as but tastes worse than Gin. This was topped off by a sugary black coffee. Nat supprisingly kept up with a morning shot and a few beers.
With 200 people on a Croatian fishing boat and German dance music blairing everyone dug into the local beer. At 10.00am Michael pointed out the Germans had peeked too early, they definately had, they had started a Kylie Minogue locomotion around the boat and were beginning to slow by 11am.
The Rakia takes its toll
A polo sport advertisement Kane enjoying a couple of cold handles on the boat
The Salty sea dog fired up the charcoal barbe. It was a choice between slimy Mackerel or Slimy Mackerel. Would you question this guy?

The Mackerel tasted way better than it smelt. I was sceptical as in NZ we only use the slimy version as bait.
We arrived at Brac and were really impessed and the water was even clearer. It would be cool to stay there for a while to explore a bit more.
We arrived at Brac and swam for 4 hours. After a wicked day and more Rakia & beer we returned to Makarska.
We headed back to the room for a routine evening snooze before heading out again. Im getting used to this siesta thing
The reason we had such a cool time was because Kane and Michael showed us all the good places to go and were really relaxed about any plans. Thanks heaps guys - Its a place we definately want to go back to - Next up The greek islands.............
