Hawthorn’s Corporate Officers After
1900
The mix of individuals
serving as Corporate Officers at Hawthorn changed over the years. The following sources and dates show some of
the transition in management and ownership that took place from the founding of
Hawthorn to its final sale and dissolution in the late 1920s.
E. A. Hamilton, President. A Hawthorn Pottery
Co. invoice dated October 2, 1900 shows Hamilton listed as “Manager” and M. J. Mateer
as President. By 1903, Hamilton had apparently become president. A deed dated September 10, 1903, transferring a portion of the pottery’s property to
the Allegheny Valley Railway Company (“A. V. Railway Co.) for the purposes of
building a railway siding at the pottery lists Hamilton as President.
F. M. Ransbottom, President.
On February 22,, 1928, the Clarion County recorder of deeds shows a Deed from Hawthorn Pottery Company to A.J.
Dean AL. The deed was signed by F. M. Ransbottom, President.
The transfer was attested to by Nelson McCoy, listed as Secretary. Ransbottom appears
to be the same as Frank Ransbottom of the Ransbottom Brothers Pottery of Ohio. More information about Ransbottom
