Heartfelt, meaningful song turns out to be ideal marketing tool

Apple have done a wonderful job with their new advert, combining the feeling and sadness behind a little-known Johnny Cash song to achieve record sales for their even newer iPhone.

An Apple spokesman commented: ‘the gentle beat and heartfelt lyrics bring credibility and authenticity to our brand. The simplicity of the song fits in perfectly with our clean, white identity. It might be about long-lost love, culminating in a lifetime of unhappiness and heartache, but it’s certainly put a smile on the face of our new CEO, and all the major marketing personal below him.’

Another well-respected source added: ‘the song was the perfect choice because hardly anyone had heard it before – it was a real treasure. The singer himself even refused to release it for money because it meant too much to him, which is probably why he was a much-loved artist rather than a successful businessman. We didn’t want a popular, in-your-face song to market our product, we wanted a sincere tune, sung with real feeling to bring even more credibility to our brand. Who knows, if we continue to find these touching little acoustic gems, we could soon be bigger and richer than Microsoft.’

In a show of generosity, Apple have sent every one of Johnny Cash’s family a free iPod, engraved with same heartfelt message the singer chose to have on his tombstone.
