Meet Mrs. Poland
Hello!  I hope that you all enjoy your science class this year.  It is very important to me that you not only find science interesting, but learn new things about the world around you.  Hopefully, by the end of the year you will learn how to ask interesting questions, and think about how you might answer them.

I graduated from
Cook College (now renamed the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences) at Rutgers University in 1999.  My major was  Environmental Science and my minor was Science Education.  I finished my Masters Degree in Science Education in 2007 from the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers.  It took four years for me to finish my Masters going to school after school. :) It was worth it because I got to try out new activities and learned a lot of interesting things.

This will be my 9th year teaching at TJ.  I really enjoy teaching 7th grade because my students are very enthusiastic about science, and ask excellent questions!  I try to incorporate as many lab activities as I can.  I have a lot of new ideas for this year that I am excited to try out!

In March I had a baby boy named Nathan.  He is adorable and I know he is going to love science like his mom and dad do!  We also have a pet painted turtle named Bruno and a boxer/pit bull mix we adopted from a rescue group. Her name is Jolie and we love her very much.

I love the beach and have had the opportunity to travel to beautiful beaches like Hawaii, Antiqua and the Dominican Republic. Hawaii was my favorite place by far.  Too bad its a 12 hour flight away!

I also like to go camping, bike riding, snow shoeing and hiking. My husband and I really enjoy being outdoors. In the summer I love to read as many books as I can and spend time with my family and friends.

I look forward to getting to know all of you now!
