Cry At Midnight

In morbid silence I walk and wonder,

There is no question too big or too small.

There is no peace, no rest in sight,

There is no justice, no God at all.

Harsh words are spoken, no action taken,

To stop the pain that rapes our nation.

It has not changed since time was new,

And never a moment does scorn vacation.

No one is safe from the endless horror,

No one is saved from being beaten.

No one can stop the power of evil,

All light is  dimmed, all goodness is eaten.

No current morality gives me solace,

No back breaking work gives me fame.

What I hope will bring closer,

Just leads to further shame.

I look over my shoulder and gloom awaits me,

The reaper, he dogs at my heels.

The wanting can not be stopped with words,

Or return what sorrow steals.
