Daniel
Pierce was born and raised in Maine, the son of a small-town doctor.
Following high school, he attended Boudouin College, after which
he went to Johns Hopkins Medical, largely courtesy of a Starfleet-based
scholarship. The scholarship was contingent upon an agreement
that Daniel made to serve in the Fleet should he be called upon
to do so, and just such an occasion arose with the Dominion War.
Daniel was stationed at a field hospital in the Tyra Sector, central
to some of the heaviest fighting. He was furious at being drafted,
but with little to do but accept his situation, Daniel did what
he could to make the best of things. Upon stationing, he found
himself sharing a bunk with Martin McManus, and the two men became
close friends.
