Abby Wycinski was born and raised in Boston, Massachussetts, to Eric and Margaret Wycinski. She had a mostly uneventful upbringing, doing well in school and enjoying a closely-knit family life. Even as a small child, Abby was fascinated by science, especially the workings of the human body. As she grew older, she elected to study medicine and, looking for some adventure as well as a career, she attended Starfleet Academy. Following graduation from the Academy, she went to Starfleet Medical, where she met Martin McManus.
