07/10 & 11/04 - CBBT WEEKEND

The weekend started out on an upbeat note! The "Any Minute Now" left out of Lynnhaven at zero-dark-thirty on Saturday morning with yours truly, "The Fat Man" at the helm with "The Old Man"  and "CBTroutMan" along for the trip.
Flat water and a sunrise that painted a bedazzling water-color on the surface while we made wake for the High Rise area. We had to skirt SEVERAL pods of dolphin and schooling baitfish, but made excellent time, dropped lines by 7, and worked our way south along the CBBT.
We struggled for a while and finally managed to put a few keepers into the box. Most notably a nice fat flattie boxed up pretty by The Fat Man and a few healthy croakers by CBTroutMan.
I managed a trout, cow-nose ray, other flotsam and jetsam, but no keepers this day.

Off the water early, home in time for dinner. A NICE DAY!

Sunday started out similar with just The Old Man and myself. The Kid begged off the night before due to incoming relatives and CBTroutMan begged off due to Honey-Do. I was a little surprised The Old Man made it a second day in a row. Guess he must have finally told his SWMBO who was really the boss and wears the pants in THAT family. Seems she always lets him go fishing every time he admits that it's her.

Anyway . . . .

Out early. Stayed along the spans near the First Island back to the Small Boat Channel.. We boated several rays and over 30 flounder between us. We kept one 19 incher each and released the rest. Way too small for the box.

Headed back early, stopped by the 7-11 for a brain freezing Slurpee. Home in time for dinner. Tired. Sore. Happy.

Good Plan That. Left early enough to avoid the outgoing crowd and ensured a parking spot without waiting a long time. Came back early enough to avoid the ramp-side circus. Guess I'll have to follow that plan more often.
