5/31/03 REALLY DESPERATE FISHIN' TRIP (Under Lesner Bridge/Lynnhaven Inlet)
Things were really getting desperate. Like many, I've been waiting for Mother Nature to provide a decent day for my little 18 1/2 footer and cursing the WXMen for ALWAYS getting it WRONG!!!

Getting tired of the same old two views of my boat . . .
In the morning, out the front door In the evening, coming home
I'd post a picture of it in the water, but I'm still waiting for THAT to happen.
So, two weeks ago, the OLD MAN and the FAT MAN planned a NIGHT TRIP for Hawg Striper and Big Trout out at the CBBT. Not considering for a minute that a hurricane would blast out of the midwest and spoil our fun, we didn't cave until 10:00 am on Saturday morning. But, so as not to blow an entire evening and night of fishing, we decided to go on a shore excursion at the Lynnhaven Inlet and fish for schoolies under the Lesner Bridge - weather be darned.
And the darned weather was BEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUTIFUL!
At least early on (arrived at 2 pm) as these waders will testify!

And the OLD MAN and the FAT MAN up to our knees in SAND!!
The OLD MAN, wishin', not fishin'. Claimed he had a "really pretty flounder" on at one point - all I saw come in was grass. And more grass. And then, RAIN, and MORE RAIN!

The Old Man put on his rain gear and said "go ahead, I'm ready!"
Minutes later, even we abandoned the shoreline. Visibility down to about 1/4 mile and I'm surprised the picture isn't ruined because of lightning!
Just an "Oh, By The Way". "THE MAN" (actually, 2 of them, in uniform) came out and checked licences and catches. Of course, we got by just fine - nothin' in OUR coolers. DOH! But see that little blue plastic bag on the beach to the right of the Old Man (and down the beach about 25 feet)? That guy claimed that it wasn't his. Nope. All them striper fish parts? Heads? Tails? Still frozen solid? NOPE!!!! Not his a'tall!  ROTSL (Rolling On The Sand Laughing).
So. We waited. And waited. And the torrential rains fell. And we wished we had a boat. Actually, we worried we'd need a boat. And the lighting flashed. And the thunder roared. And we tucked our tails and ran.  Oh. you say it almost looks sunny in this last picture? Well, I've lightened it up some. A bit, anyway. Well. Ok. A LOT.

But! Come back SOON. I have a SURPRISE for Mother Nature and all those darned WXMen. Even though it ISN"T nice to fool Mother Nature.
