Distortion under the name of Yohannes Kidane? By Yohannes Kidane
Nowadays, if we look around the internet, we find tens and hundreds of Ethiopian Websites, which are either seriously informing and educating people or are indulging themselves in evil intentions to discredit names or use names for the sole purpose of getting or building their self-image at another person’s expense. In the later case, the aim is clear and that is to distort and tarnish people’s reputation and standing among the Ethiopian community both abroad and inside the country.
What brought about this piece of information is the recent launching of a new website called axumite site, asking people to sign under the guest-book with a name called Yohannes Kidane. Many people have asked me since then, if it was me who opened the website, despite their suspicions about the formulation, structure and correctness of the English language in that website. I was surprised to find out that the name Yohannes Kidane, which served during the Ethio-Eritrean conflict has appeared under the guise of another person but with the same name. Although contacts and necessary measures are taken, such as copy right and intellectual property rights with the company in charge of the internet service and legal means, I would like to inform my friends not to rush and sign under with praises, best wishes, successes and advice. Be vigilant and watch out for wolves in sheep’s clothing.
I have neither grudge against nor knowledge of the person, who opened the website. I rather wish him good luck. But according to the legal documents of the country in which he resides, he has to be aware of the fact that infringement and violation of law is punishable.
