Hello hello all. The business is indeed true, we did just get
back from a trip to Toronto to attend Get On My Level: Forever.
The crew that went was newquake, babs, kraft, keke, jeep god and saucymain. We saw old friends,
met new ones, went bar hopping, gamed, got on multiple boats and made the most of the damn
weekend.
Shoutouts to Abby, Abdi and Elliot for going out and hanging, very great times.
Most of
us flew in thursday, we ended up hitting an amazing ass pho spot for a delicious meal.
We went thrifting around kensington market, enjoyed beers in a chill ass tibetan bar (free tibet) played some pool, and then ended the night drinking and
playing card games at a bar in kensington called Ronnie's.
Friday was the first day we were in the venue, for doubles and crews. Kraft and Saucymain made
some nice upsets, nearly making it to top 16. Josh flew in that day, and made it in time for
crews, where we played truly incredible melee against MOF, Salt and SDJ.
kraft actually played like a superhuman for about 5 minutes in
his crew battle. After crews, we played some pool at the rivoli, made important business calls at various cultural festivals around the
city and had laughter. We ended the day walking back to the airbnb, admiring the CN tower and
thinking about drake.
Saturday was time for singles! Overall I'm proud of how everyone performed, I damn near lost my
mind watching Ben nearly make a heroic upset over maelstrom. The highs and lows of competing are
potent, and we drowned our sorrows in burgers after bracket.
Afterwards we hit a ping pong bar doing shot matches in ping pong for a while, talked
business/real estate/cryptocurrency investment opportunities/freshman level high school
philisophical notions over a bottle of wine at a wine bar on queen st, and ended the night faded as all hell at a rooftop tiki bar.
Alright alright, Sunday. Sunday was a little bit tough on the hangover/tiredness side but
frankly we powered through like champions. We watched top 8 - congrats to zain on the great
cartwheel.
Afterwards we got marg trees at Anejo with Abdi, Elliot and Aidan and it was actually, Kinda Dope? From there we went to the goml afterparty on
a party boat. We hung with fellow new englander kalvar for a while on there, shoutout. Highlight
of the boat trip for me was keke and jeep god doing "I gotta feeling" on karaoke, it was
actually .. kinda awesome? We were on that boat for damn near four hours!!!!
Okay if we were tired on Sunday we were dead on Monday but nevertheless we persisted. We had to
get out of the airbnb by 11am and had the flight back to Boston at 9pm so we had some time to do
more exploring. We ended up taking the ferry to Toronto Island to ride bikes on a nice summer
day around the parks.
We suffered an injury on the island but through teamwork, grit and open
conversation we were able to resolve the situation and Jake survived.
From the island we spent a bit more time in the city before heading to the airport, exhausted
from a mystical and magical weekend in the six.
Now that we're back home safe in Boston, I can say personally I feel motivated to grind more
melee, have more conversations and enjoy more life after such a damn fun trip. Here's to many
more trips in the future : )
