13. What are a connection fee & a monthly (or weekly) service fee?
Connection fee - For some of our low rate phone cards, there is a connection fee
associated with them. For every call you make, a connection fee is charged
against your phone card. These kinds of phone cards are best suitable for people
whose calls last more than an hour. The major disadvantage of a connection fee
is that if the phone system is busy and your call is disconnected, you may have
to pay for another connection fee to complete your calls. Not all phone card
companies would like to refund such a connection fee since it is very hard to
determine if the disconnection is caused by their system. So, a word of caution
if you have to use a phone card with a connection fee.
A monthly (or weekly) service fee - One way for a phone card company to lower
their calling rate is to increase the call volume. Therefore, a monthly or
weekly service fee is applied to encourage you to use up the phone card as soon
as possible. Such service fees are applied after completion of your first call.
14. What is a 2-minute rounding?
Typically, your phone card usage are measured in seconds. However, when your
calls are completed, the duration is rounded to the second minute. This is
sometime called 2-minute rounding or 2-minute increment. If one of your calls
last less than a minute, your phone card will be charges with 2 minutes. Again,
if your calls are very long, the 2-minute rounding has little impact on your
pocket book at all. So, please select your phone cards wisely.
